Cell on Wheels (COW) Mobile Deployment
Cell on Wheels (COW) is a portable base station used to provide temporary cellular network coverage for companies working in the North Slope oilfields and other locations where short-term service is required. COWs can be put into full operation in a short timeframe and provide fully functional service, via vehicles such as trailers and small shelters.
Backhaul delivery to the network can be via terrestrial microwave, communication satellite or existing wired infrastructure. The COW can be transported over large distances and on rough terrain and may be left on site for an extended period of time with the use of either mains power or a backup generator.
